What CPRE is doing

Working to protect the countryside’s tranquillity is what CPRE is all about – we’ve even put the task in our mission statement.
We launched a tranquillity campaign in October 2006 to show people how it is possible to do so. The campaign includes production of new tranquillity map and reports, Parliamentary lobbying and clear proposals for how we might protect this precious asset. Use the links on the right to find out more.
The campaign involves a great deal of work from the district up to the national level. We are committed to offering positive, practical solutions and to working collaboratively with policy makers to find ways to protect, enhance and restore our tranquil areas. We won’t stop until we’ve succeeded.
Local action
Locally, CPRE branches are working with key stakeholders, including local authorities, parish councils, AONB management boards and regional assemblies, to secure better protection for rural tranquillity within plans and policies.
