Take action

We want to know if your local Green Belt is threatened
CPRE is working hard to protect areas of Green Belt near you that are under threat from inappropriate development. Please contact us today to find out who is your local CPRE contact and how you can help. Local contacts will be able to give details about the Green Belt near you, or the need for one, and the work we are doing to influence Green Belt policy.

Action by our local groups
At a local level, we monitor planning applications every week to spot threats to Green Belt land. When threats arise, our volunteers take action to remind planning officers and councillors about the importance of Green Belt and of national Government policy, suggesting how the damage could be avoided and presenting alternatives.

Do you feel that you been ripped off by a landbanker?
We believe that many of the people who have purchased small plots of land from landbankers would not have purchased that land if they had been told all that they needed to know about the protected status of the land and the legal restrictions on the ability of landbankers to develop land. If you feel that you have been ripped off by a landbanker, please let us know – email: campaigns@cpre.org.uk

Take a photograph
We have set up a photo gallery of people's favourite Green Belt spots. Please send us a photograph of Green Belt that's important to you and tell us why you chose that particular spot – email: campaigns@cpre.org.uk

Write a letter
Write to your MP and your local newspaper, explaining why you want Green Belts to remain protected open land.

> You can find the name of your MP and email him or her using the web form on www.theyworkforyou.com.

Please let us know if you have sent a letter or an email

Picnic in the Green Belt
Make the most of your Green Belt on the next sunny day by exploring its nature and beauty using existing rights of way and public open space. You can find maps on the Ordnance Survey website.

No Green Belt near you — then create it!
If you live in a town or city that could benefit from having sprawl curtailed, why not begin a campaign to create a new Green Belt? Actions from local people are what created many of our existing Green Belts. CPRE has a new guide on how to create new Green Belt. Use it to take you step by step through the process.
