Six ways you can help tackle litter and fly-tipping
1. Join LitterAction
Do you see untidy litter spoiling the town and countryside where you live? You could do something about it by joining a litter picking group and transforming theses places into pleasant places for people and wildlife. Visit our LitterAction website to find a group near you and get tips on litter picking.

2. Report a litter or fly-tipping problem to your local council
You can use our easy to use online letter writing tool to find and email your local council and let them know about your problem and action you want them to take.

3. Help us persuade the Government to take action on litter
We recently published a report with the Policy Exchange thinktank called Litterbugs – how to deal with the problem of littering. The report recommends a number of key actions to tackle the rising tide of litter in our towns, villages and countryside. We are using it to try to persuade the Government to take action. And we need you to help us put a stop to the 500% increase in littering we have seen since the 1960s. Please send a letter to your MP asking him or her to write to Environment Secretary Hilary Benn to support the report’s recommendations.

4. Make your school litter free
Our education pack for schools, How to Run a Whole School Litter Campaign, includes shocking facts about litter and powerful photographs that show wildlife injured by carelessly dropped rubbish. Practical activities and lessons encourage children to understand the problem of litter and the harm it can do to wildlife and the wider environment.
