Outdoor group to climb Three Peaks in 24 hours to fundraise for CPRE

On Saturday 20 April a team of twenty hikers set out to climb the three highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales in just twenty four hours to raise money for CPRE. They started out early for their first challenge at Ben Nevis, then onto Scafell Pike in the Lake District and finished before dusk at Snowdon in Wales.

The team of outdoor enthusiasts have been pulled together from the University of Hertfordshire Outdoor Society, Raise and Give, University staff and Sabbatical Officers. They want to raise awareness of the beauty of the countryside and all its benefits and by fundraising for CPRE help to ensure future generations can enjoy the countryside too.

Organiser Ashley Lydiate explained their motivation for helping CPRE: "At University students don’t really get out much to see the surrounding area, so the Outdoors Society tries to help address that. Raising money and awareness for CPRE is about giving something back in support of this amazing, free resource – the countryside. We spend a lot of our time outdoors, climbing mountains and being in the rural area, so it just feels fitting to be giving money back to someone who’s looking after it."
