Response to PM speech

4 October 2017

In response to the Prime Minister’s speech today at Conservative Party Conference, Tom Fyans, Director of Campaigns and Policy at the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) said:

“We welcome the Prime Minister’s pledge that she intends to get the Government back into the business of building houses again.

“But we hope that the Government will not forget the affordable housing needs of rural communities right across England, to help young people and families maintain their local connections.

“If the Prime Minister genuinely wants to fix the housing market and realise her ‘British dream’ then she must go further and empower local communities to decide what housing they need to thrive.”
