External Affairs Assistant – (Fixed-term contract – three months)

Salary: circa £23,000 pro-rata
London N1 7NH office based but ability to work 2-3 days from home

This role is a fixed-term contract starting the middle of September to the middle of December.  You will assist with the work of the External Affairs team, which is responsible for public affairs, campaigns, and media engagement. This is a fixed-term position starting in mid-September and ending in mid-December.

You will be joining a fast-paced team working at the forefront of political engagement on some of the country’s most pressing issues. From the climate emergency to the energy crisis, you will be involved in shaping how the media, public, and Westminster views these matters by helping the team craft and deliver our messaging.

The role will require you to assist with the running of events in Parliament, attended by policymakers and Ministers throughout the autumn Parliamentary session. At the events you will be at the centre of managing the attendees and ensuring all aspects are delivered to the highest quality. It will also involve contacting parliamentarian offices to set up face-to-face meetings and direct engagement with policymakers during these events/meetings.

You will also be working closely with the Brand and Engagement team to ensure that the work of the wider Campaigns and Policy team are effectively reaching our audiences on social media. This will involve crafting social media posts across Twitter/Facebook/Instagram.

The role will also require day-to-day management of our campaigns inbox and internal meetings – giving the position holder an opportunity to work closely with the campaigns team on issues such as stopping the Cumbria Coal Mine!
