What makes our protected landscapes special to you? That’s a question we’re being asked as part of an indepdendent review of our world-renowned National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The review asks broad questions about how National Parks and AONBs currently work and how they can be even more effective.

Excitingly, it also asks us to submit recent photographs that show what is special about to each of us about our protected landscapes.

That’s where you come in: we’re asking everyone to share photos of our protected landscapes on Twitter or Instagram using #MyLandscape.

It could be a favourite walk, some wildlife, or a view that simply takes your breath away – whatever you want to share.

We’ll retweet and share the ones we like, and submit the best ones as part of our response to the independent review. Feel free to add a few words about what the image means to you.

Follow us on Twitter and Instagram and use #MyLandscape to get involved.

What is the Review of National Parks and AONBs?

As part of the 70-year anniversary of National Parks Act 1949 that led to the creation of our National Parks, an independent panel is undertaking a review of all aspects of England’s National Parks and AONBs.

It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to influence how our protected landscapes will be managed for future generations.

We believe that England’s protected landscapes are hugely important to the nation’s health and wellbeing; they provide attractive places for people to live, work or play and make a significant contribution to the economy.

They also provide a vital home for wildlife, and tranquil places we can all enjoy.

We’ll be submitting a response to the review to make sure our National Parks and AONBs can continue to do so for the next 70 years and beyond.
