What we do

CPRE stand at the Buckden climate change event

We work to protect our landscapes and rural communities and to seek out ways in which they can be enhanced.

In our work, we:

  • Scrutinise and challenge plans for development in Cambridgeshire and the region.
  • Campaign on issues affecting the countryside such as light pollution, litter and a deposit return system.
  • Support conservation of the distinctive Cambridgeshire landscape, including projects such as the Great Ouse Valley Trust.
  • Raise awareness of the Cambridgeshire countryside as a vital space for food production, biodiversity, health and wellbeing.
  • Work with local and national government and other organisations to promote policies that conserve and make use optimum of land, including the best and most versatile agricultural land.

We’re working for a Cambridgeshire countryside that is rich in nature and which plays a crucial role in responding to the climate emergency. And we want to connect people to the countryside so they can engage with it, understand it and enjoy it.
