	More about us		What we've achieved 80 years of success Highlights include: 1947 \| The Town and Country Planning Act The Act achieved many of CPRE's ambitions for planning in the countryside and laid the foundations of the planning system we still use today. > 1940's 1949 \| National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 The Act paved the way for National Parks after CPRE was invited to give evidence-in-chief to the National Parks Committee. > 1940's 1979 \| Laurence Olivier Radio 4 appeal raises £10,000 Laurence Olivier made an impassioned appeal on behalf of CPRE, calling for listeners to cherish the English countryside and support CPRE's work. > 1970's What we've achieved
