Our influence on planning
CPRE is one of the nation's leading voluntary sector organisations engaged in the land use and spatial planning system. Nationally we aim to influence planning law, regulations and policy by working with Parliamentarians and Government departments, and responding to Government consultations. We are also involved in reviews of Regional Spatial Strategies and our branches work with county and district councils who make decisions at the local level.
Planning Bill
In May 2007 the Government published its Planning White Paper, with its strong economic bias we fear it will make it quicker and easier to develop Major Infrastructure Projects, large supermarkets and housing estates on green field land.
We are campaigning to get a stronger environmental emphasis into the final Planning Bill, in response to the Government's consultation.
