As we begin 2026, CPRE is proud to celebrate 100 years of standing up for the countryside. To mark our centenary, we’ve released a short video that reflects on a century of action, and looks ahead to what’s next.

This year marks a major milestone for CPRE. For 100 years, our members, supporters and communities have worked together to protect the countryside we all love. From campaigning for the first Green Belts to safeguarding cherished landscapes, planting and restoring hedgerows, protecting dark skies and pushing for better planning laws, our movement has shaped the countryside for the better.

This is a moment to celebrate what collective action can achieve. But it’s also a chance to reflect on the challenges ahead and recommit to protecting the countryside for future generations.

Our ‘100 years in 100 seconds’ is a short video that tells our story. Narrated by our President, Mary-Ann Ochota, the video brings together defining moments from our past and captures the spirit of an organisation built on people power.
