About our local groups

CPRE local groups are at the heart of our work to protect and regenerate the countryside. Run by passionate volunteers and staff, they connect local knowledge and action with national influence, helping shape planning decisions, restore nature and champion the countryside.

By bringing people together and inspiring communities to take action, our local groups are driving real change — right where you live.

What Local Groups Do

Local CPREs champion the countryside, working to protect and improve the places people care about. Rooted in their communities, they help shape local decisions, promote positive solutions and inspire others to act.

Their work includes:

  • Standing up for the countryside by engaging with local planning decisions, challenging harmful proposals and championing the value of nature, landscapes and green spaces.
  • Promoting better solutions by advocating for planning that supports nature, climate and communities.
  • Deliver projects that demonstrate what’s possible, from restoring hedgerows to improving local green spaces.
  • Build a movement for change by bringing people together through volunteering and events, and empowering communities to shape the future of their countryside.
