Alasdair Forman – 2023 Trustee Awards
Alasdair Forman is a 2023 CPRE Trustee Awards winner and was nominated by CPRE Lancashire, Liverpool and Greater Manchester for connecting new audiences with the countryside. Find out more about why Alasdair was nominated here.
‘Alasdair Forman has been a trustee of CPRE Lancashire, Liverpool City Region and Greater Manchester Group for a number of years. He previously worked for the WWF in South Korea. When he and his wife returned to live in Liverpool, he joined as a trustee, to continue with his effort in benefiting the natural environment. Alasdair brought an incredible level of governance support to the group, helping to progress an overarching strategy with social media goals to compliment campaigns at the national CPRE.
‘Of note, he has secured two lottery funded projects: one with Incredible Edible in Court Hey Park in Knowsley, which connected young people with no prior access to farming and food production; and the other with the Ramblers, to develop a new 180-mile circular walk around Greater Manchester. The walk route is split into twenty sections all accessible on public transport. The linked public rights of way allow people to walk through the countryside of Bury, Bolton, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan. Much of it is in the Green Belt, which we have been working with local people to protect as the ‘Places for Everyone’ spatial plan emerges. These projects have better connected the people of the area with the countryside next door.’
