Tea for two - Nominations required for the Queen's Garden Party!



Network Chairs are asked to nominate staff/volunteers and their spouses/companions to attend The Queen’s Garden Party taking place on Tuesday 21 May 2019. Staff and volunteers are also encouraged to nominate themselves and others to their Chair. Nominations must be received at National Office by Tuesday 12 February 2019.

1. Each year CPRE National Office receives a quota of 4 invitations to attend the Queen’s Garden Party which this year will be held on Tuesday 21 May 2019 at Buckingham Palace. Two of these invitations are allocated to national office staff and the remaining two go to the branches and regional groups.

2. To be consistent and fair, we offer the longest serving members of staff at National Office the chance to go first. This method would not be feasible for the network so instead, we are asking that Chairs from each of the networks nominate staff/volunteers from their group.

3. Chairs can make as many nominations as they wish. A nomination form is attached, please make copies as required. NOTE: A nomination form must be completed for each nominated person and should include details of the person accompanying them i.e. spouse/companion; this will count as two invitations.

4. Volunteers and Staff are also encouraged to nominate themselves and/or other people within their group to their Chair.

5. Chairs can also nominate themselves but must also nominate others within their group. Please ensure/confirm that all nominees are available to attend the event on Tuesday 21 May.

6. All Nomination forms MUST arrive at National Office by Tuesday 12 February 2019. Late nominations will not be accepted. Names will be drawn from a hat (or other suitable receptacle) at National Office on Wednesday 13 February. The successful nominee will be notified soon after the draw.

NOTE: The Palace prefers that all nominated guests are to be accompanied either by a spouse or companion (this counts as two invitations), unless the guest specifically requests to attend on their own, if this happens the Chair must find another person to attend to make up the two. Those who require assistance MUST also be accompanied; this too counts as two invitations.

We apologise for the tight deadline but this is outside our control. Invitations will be sent out directly by the Palace six weeks before the event

When completing the form, please write clearly in capital letters and ensure that all the relevant parts of the form are completed. If a form has been drawn which has not been completed correctly it will automatically be disqualified and another nominee form will be drawn and forwarded to the Palace. Once the nomination form has been sent to the Lord Chamberlain’s Office alterations cannot be made.

IMPORTANT NOTES and GUIDANCE: Please read carefully before completing the form, which can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. The Lord Chamberlain’s Office has requested that we observe the following when completing the nominations form:

  • Ensure that no one under the age of 18 years is nominated
  • All attendees are required to bring two forms of identification with them one of which must be photographic, to confirm their full name, date of birth and current address. Therefore, all names and addresses written on the form must match the identification that attendees will submit on the day otherwise you will not gain entry to the event. e.g. If your ID says Samantha but you are known as Sam you must put Samantha on the nomination form
  • The elderly and infirm MUST be accompanied (this counts as two invitations). There will be no parking facilities offered this year with the exception of disability badge (Blue Badgeholders). A separate form will be sent to you directly from the Palace so you can apply for parking if you have stated that you are disabled and have a valid blue badge. NO exception will be allowed
  • Remember to include both COUNTY and POSTAL CODE when completing the address columns
  • All persons nominated must be British or European Union citizens, although their spouses or companions may be of other nationalities
  • All guests, nominated or accompanying, must be resident in the United Kingdom
  • Nominated guests should not have previously attended one of Her Majesty’s Garden Parties
