CPRE response to the Strengthening Brownfield consultation

CPRE’s response championed a ‘brownfield first’ policy. The Housing Delivery Test finds too many local plans out of date, rendering them silent and causing planning decisions to bypass local wishes. We urged for some policy flaws leading to ‘greenfield first’ planning outcomes, against government’s stated aims, to be remedied. The proposals risk town cramming, a lowering of design quality and standards concerning occupiers ‘right to light’ and other protections.
